Philips Healthcare has installed Ingenuity 128-slice CT scanners at Holston Medical Group (HMG) outpatient imaging centers in Kingsport and Bristol, Tenn.

To help address a growing number of orthopedic patients, HMG chose Philips Ingenuity CT because it features metal artifact reduction technology for large orthopedic implants. The technology reduces artifacts in image data caused by high density metal objects such as prosthetic hip replacements.

Also, to assist in educating patients about medical imaging and the risks of radiation dose, HMG plans to employ Philips’ community outreach educational program, Smart Medical Imaging Less Exposure (SMILE).
