UnitedHealthcare announces policy changes for Radiology Notification Program
UnitedHealthcare will be requiring network physicians, including UnitedHealth premium quality and cost efficiency designated physicians, to complete prior notification for advanced imaging services.

The Radiology Notification & Authorization Program, which is a prior notification program, will require notification for claims from all ordering physicians starting on the Feb. 15, date of service. However, notification will not be required for any advanced diagnostic imaging services that take place in an emergency room, observation unit or during an inpatient stay, said the payor.

In addition, notification will not be required for any service dates prior to the Feb. 15 deadline.

The change to UnitedHealthcare’s Radiology Notification Program, which will become effective Feb. 15, will not affect a physician’s UnitedHealth Premium quality and cost efficiency designation, said the organization.
