Wayport helps Virginia health system go wireless
Wayport, a provider of public and private network support and integration for healthcare facilities, has signed an agreement with Inova Health System to provide wireless internet access throughout its five hospital locations.   

The Wi-Fi internet access will be available in each hospital, and can be used by patients, doctors, staff and visitors, according to the Irving, Texas-based Wayport. The company said users can connect for a fee on an hourly basis and paid membership plans for unlimited usage will also be available.

Wayport will also install public PC units (the Wayport CyberCenter Express) in the hospitals, which can be accessed by the public.

Wayport said it can assist Inova can run wireless hospital applications and provide guest access on the same network, while maintaining HIPAA compliance and internal security.
