West Virginia hospital completes Siemens Soarian install
St. Mary’s Medical Center has completed the implementation of Soarian, a health information management system that supports the delivery of optimum care, from Siemens Medical Solutions.

The facility will leverage the benefits of both Soarian Clinicals and Soarian Financials, which respectively address specific needs related to the patient care process, Siemens said.

The company said that Soarian includes all of the medical information needed to take a patient from registration to treatment and recovery. Once a patient is ready for discharge, Soarian Financials will facilitate accurate billing.

Implementing the new technology took more than two years of planning among several departments at St. Mary’s, including Hospital Information Services, Organizational Learning and Development and St. Mary’s clinical staff, Siemens said. Employees received training for three months before they began using the system with real patients in the medical center.

St. Mary’s of Huntington, W.Va., houses 393 beds and employs more than 2,000 people.
