Planmed’s new Nuance Acquire workstation
Planmed (Booth 7307) is featuring its Planmed Nuance Excel full-field digital mammography (FFDM) platform; its digital stereotactic system, Planmed Nuance DigiGuide; and a new, completely motorized workstation, the Planmed Nuance Acquire Station at RSNA 2008.

Planmed Nuance Excel FFDM unit exposes women to significantly lower levels of radiation during a digital mammography exam, thanks to a proprietary TriFilter technology with a new tungsten x-ray tube, the company says. This technology uses less than 60 percent of the dose normally used in conventional digital mammography.

In combination with the high performance, 24 x 30 cm amorphous selenium-based direct digital detector and dedicated image processing, the unit truly excels in image quality and diagnostic performance. The new Planmed Nuance Excel also incorporates the acclaimed MaxView Breast Positioning System and Side Access patient positioning system for improved mammography imaging workflow and results.

Planmed Nuance and Nuance Excel are not only high-performance FFDM screening units, but also can be equipped with a lightweight digital stereotactic system, the Planmed Nuance DigiGuide. The Planmed Nuance DigiGuide offers fast and easy stereotactic procedures, as well as unlimited connectivity to the hospital information systems and PACS.

Good working ergonomics is instrumental for high-throughput mammography screening. Non-ergonomic work can eventually lead to diminished imaging volumes and even affect the quality of breast cancer screening. Planmed is introducing a new, completely motorized workstation Planmed Nuance Acquire Station for the Planmed Nuance Excel FFDM unit.

The dedicated acquisition station features motorized height adjustment, a key board tray, and an optional swivel display arm with integrated cable management for mounting a high-resolution acquisition display. The system also incorporates an integrated exposure switch, acquisition workstation PC with isolation transformer and an optional UPS. The new Planmed radiation shield also can be connected to the Planmed Nuance Acquire Station.

Planmed’s Nuance and Nuance Excel FFDM platforms and its Nuance DigiGuide are pending FDA approval and are not yet available in the U.S., according to the company.
