Philips and Imtek enhance preclinical research tool
Philips Medical Systems and ImTek Inc. unveil a new offering for preclinical research.

The pair announced the expansion of its MicroCAT laboratory animal x-ray computed tomography (CT) product line to include single photon emission tomography (SPECT). The MicroCAT platform can now be configured for x-ray CT, SPECT or dual modality imaging.

Philips says the system features automated transition between SPECT and CT imaging modes under the control of a single user interface for acquisition, reconstruction and analysis of dual-modality data sets.

The first MicroCAT-SPECT system is expected to be installed this month.

Distributed exclusively by Philips, the preclinical research tool will be showcased at the Annual Meeting of the Academy of Molecular Imaging in Orlando, March 27-31.
