Two fellowships offered by GE Healthcare
GE Healthcare has announced its sponsorship of two American College of Cardiology (ACC) Fellows, which are two-year career development grants to cardiologists who hope to further cardiac research by using imaging technology.

Steven Lloyd, MD, PhD, and Farouc Jaffer, MD, PhD, were announced as the GE Fellows on March 6 during the ACC convention 2005 Scientific Session in Orlando, Fla.

Lloyd was selected from the University of Alabama Medical Center in Birmingham for his work on the use of magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) in assessing cardiovascular disease, while Jaffer was chosen from Massachusetts General Hospital, Harvard Medical School in Boston, Mass. for his work in applying molecular imaging technology to diagnose heart attacks and strokes.

GE is the first non-pharmaceutical company to offer such fellowships.
