The FDA has ordered a radiology center in a Ft. Lauderdale, Florida, suburb to stop performing low quality mammograms not meeting FDA standards, according to a report published Aug. 7 by NBC 6 in Miramar.
The FDA instructed Lakes Radiology II in Sunrise, Florida, to send letters to patients who had mammograms at the center between May 2016 through April of this year.
Federal regulators also ordered the radiology canter to stop performing mammograms as of April 19, because it “did not meet the clinical image quality standards established by our facility's accreditation body,” according to NBC 6.
Since then, Lakes Radiology II has lost accreditation from the FDA and the American College of Radiology.
