Siemens augments cardiac care in two Illinois-based medical centers
Siemens Medical Solutions and St. Elizabeth's Hospital have entered a five-year strategic alliance.

The agreement will help the 500-bed acute care hospital and Southern Illinois Heart Institute (SIHI) -- owned and operated by St. Elizabeth-- to renovate its cardiac catheterization laboratory facilities.

Siemens will install its Axiom Artis dTC digital ceiling-mounted cardiac imaging system equipped with innovative flat-panel detector technology. The system will join existing Siemens technologies, such as the Siremobil Iso-C(3D) and the Infinity patient monitoring system.

Equipped with syngo, Siemens' standard operating system and user interface, patient demographic data can be shared throughout the hospital and to referring physicians in remote locations.

In addition, Siemens says it also will provide technology training programs, marketing efforts and support for St. Elizabeth's community programs.
