A4 augments Texas hospital's expansion with ED information system
Electronic health record systems provider A4 Health Systems will be rolling out its HealthMatics ED emergency department information system at Angleton Danbury Medical Center (ADMC), a 64-bed hospital located in Angleton, Texas, and VHA-member hospital.

Within the last two years, ADMC was designated as a level-four trauma center. The hospital will soon begin a $20 million hospital-wide construction project that includes almost tripling the size of its emergency department. The EDIS (emergency department information system) will expedite care and enable the facility to handle the increase in patients expected as a result of the planned expansion.

HealthMatics ED integrates with ADMC's existing hospital systems by Meditech (Medical Information Technology Inc.) and will allow the ED physicians, who are contracted through Sterling Healthcare, to perform all aspects of data management. The system also enables flexible data customization, comprehensive encounter documentation, improved patient wait and throughput times, statistical report generation, and charge capture and chart packaging, which reduce clerical errors and support better billing.

The hospital expects to implement the EDIS in late February 2005, concurrent with the expansion.
