Agfa debuts RIS for U.S., Canada
Agfa Healthcare this week introduced a Practice Management System (PMS) to address the large and rapidly growing imaging center market in both the U.S. and Canada.

According to Agfa, the PMS combines scheduling, reporting, workflow management, work list integration, billing and practice business analysis as well as integration with IMPAX, Agfa's PACS.

The new RIS is designed to meet the specific needs of North American imaging centers, said Agfa. Imaging centers are the fastest growing segment of the U.S. radiology market. At present, there are approximately 5,000 imaging centers and 3,000 community hospitals with standalone imaging departments in the U.S. The number of imaging centers has increased by 12 percent to 15 percent annually for the past three years and this strong growth is expected to continue.

Agfa's PMS system will be released at the annual meeting of the Radiological Society of North America in Chicago, Nov. 28 - Dec. 3, 2004.
