ASRT Foundation and Siemens Healthcare USA award more than $20,000 in scholarships to medical imaging professionals

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. – The ASRT Foundation and Siemens Healthcare USA are excited to announce the recipients of the 2014 Siemens Clinical Advancement Scholarship.

Made possible by a generous contribution of more than $20,000 in support from Siemens, four scholarships of $5,000 each were awarded to medical imaging professionals seeking to enhance their clinical practice skills. Siemens has demonstrated its commitment to the radiologic technology profession by providing more than $170,000 in scholarships since 2005.

“At Siemens, we realize the vital role that education plays in the overall success of health care organizations and in delivering optimal patient care,” said Nanci Wozniak, R.T.(N), vice president of education services. “Our ongoing contribution to this scholarship fund enables us to provide opportunities to medical imaging and therapy professionals to gain more, grow more, and achieve more in their clinical practice.”

This year’s scholarship recipients are:

  • Jolie Couch of Apollo Beach, Florida, enrolled in a master’s degree program at the University of South Florida.
  • Danielle Guess of Bargersville, Indiana, enrolled in a bachelor’s degree program at Indiana University-Kokomo.
  • Lauren Williams of Halifax, Massachusetts, enrolled in a bachelor’s degree program at Regis College.
  • Matthew Younger of Jackson, Missouri, enrolled in a bachelor’s degree program at Cox College.

To be eligible, applicants must be medical imaging professionals seeking to enhance their clinical practice skills and provide excellent patient care. Applicants must be enrolled in an accredited bachelor’s or master’s degree program in radiologic sciences or a certificate program in a specialty discipline such as computed tomography, magnetic resonance or sonography.

Scholarship recipients submitted applications and were selected based on evidence of commitment, leadership, achievement and financial need. The Foundation’s Scholarship Review Committee evaluated scholarship applications and provided recommendations to the Board of Trustees. Recipients were then approved by the Board of Trustees.
