Brazilian hospital opts for Barco PACS displays
Medical imaging company Barco has won a contract to supply high-grade PACS display systems to the Hospital das Clínicas da Faculdade de Medicina da Universidade de São Paulo in Brazil.

The new systems will be installed in the hospital’s reporting rooms and will be deployed to replace the existing film-based radiology workflow. Delivery and installation will be carried out by Macsym Tecnologia Eletrônica, according to Barco.

The order for Barco’s Nio displays is part of a larger PACS project, including replacement of the hospital’s old modalities with DICOM compliant devices, installation of a DICOM server and storage, and setup of new workstations for image visualization and diagnosis. Altogether, the hospital ordered 23 Nio Fusion 4MP color systems with a resolution of 4 megapixels and seven Nio grayscale systems (dual-head) with a resolution of 3 megapixels. All workstations will be installed in the hospital’s radiology institute, the company said.
