Canada Health Infoway, McKesson ink preferred vendor deal
McKesson announced Friday that it has inked a Preferred Solution Agreement with Canada Health Infoway for its Horizon Medical Imaging picture archiving and communication system (PACS). The agreement is Canada-wide and will include a pricing structure that the company hopes will help speed up electronic health records (EHRs) and diagnostic imaging systems implementation in Canadian hospitals and healthcare organizations.

To serve the agreement, McKesson will work with the eHealth Collaboratory to test the conformance of its systems to pan-Canadian standards.

"As a Canadian business unit of McKesson Provider Technologies with 500 people in Vancouver providing world-class products and services, we are proud to be part of Infoway's effort to accelerate the use of electronic health records in the Canadian marketplace," said Rod O'Reilly, vice president and general manager of McKesson's Medical Imaging Group, located in Richmond, B.C. O’Reilly added that the products the company will deliver will be made in Canada and that support for the systems will also be local.
