CIVCO introduces pyrogen-free ultrasound cover for intracranial procedures

CIVCO Medical Solutions yesterday announced the availability of a pyrogen-free CIV-Flex cover for use in intracranial procedures. This cover is recommended for use with SonoSite’s C11 transducer and other small footprint transducers. The cover provides a sterile, pyrogen-free barrier for intracranial procedures as recommended by CDC guidance protocols, according to a release.

This new intraoperative cover is recommended for procedures when an ultrasound transducer comes in contact with intracranial tissue. Current protocols require the use of a pyrogen-free cover to protect against cross-contamination and prevent transducer contact with patients suffering certain diseases. Otherwise, transducers have to be discarded to prevent the spread of infection which can be very costly.
