Contracts: Agfa, Eclipsys, EnovateIT, Kodak, Rubbermaid Medical Solutions, Siemens
Agfa HealthCare announced that Pinnacle Orthopaedics & Sports Medicine Specialists has purchased and will be installing the company’s IMPAX for Orthopaedics at its eight offices in the Atlanta, Ga., area. Pinnacle will also install three of Agfa’s CR 25.0 digitizers and software for full-leg, full-spine imaging creating a complete digital working environment, from image acquisition to storage and distribution of pre- and post-surgical planning data.


Eclipsys announced that Methodist Hospital, Arcadia, Calif., has signed an agreement to implement Sunrise Clinical Manager and its integrated modules Sunrise Critical Care, Sunrise Emergency Care, and Knowledge-Based Charting.


Kodak Health Group has announced the award of a contract for KODAK CARESTREAM Radiology and Enterprise Information Management platforms for East-Tallinn Central Hospital in Estonia, a facility linked to the Baltic e-Health Project. Kodak also announced that healthcare facilities including Roper St. Francis Healthcare in South Carolina and Canada’s South Shore Health purchased KODAK computed radiography (CR) and digital radiography (DR) systems. Additionally, the following facilities are among those that have placed orders for KODAK digital medical imaging and information systems: Alta Vista Regional Medical Center (Las Vegas, N.M.) ordered a CARESTREAM PACS and two CR systems; Cornwall Community Hospital (Cornwall, Canada) purchased a DIRECTVIEW DR 7500 system; Great River Medical Center (West Burlington, Iowa) purchased DIRECTVIEW CR 975 and CR 825 systems and a KODAK DRYVIEW 8900 laser imaging system; Joint Township District Memorial Hospital (St. Marys, Ohio) ordered CARESTREAM PACS, CARESTREAM RIS, two CR 975 systems, and one DIRECTVIEW CR 850 system; St. John Owasso Hospital (Owasso, Okla.) purchased a DR 7500, CR 975, and DRYVIEW 8900 system; Phoenixville Hospital (Phoenixville, Penn.) ordered CARESTREAM PACS and three CR 975 and CR 850 systems; Pottstown Memorial Medical Center (Pottstown, Penn.) ordered CARESTREAM PACS and five CR 975, CR 850, and CR 825 systems; Regional Hospital (Jackson, Tenn.) ordered CARESTREAM PACS with a CR 975, and a CR 850 system; Roper St. Francis Healthcare (Charleston, S.C.) ordered seven CR 975 and CR 850 systems; South Shore Health (Bridgewater and Lunenburg, Nova Scotia, Canada) purchased two DR 7500 systems; Strong Memorial Hospital (Rochester, N.Y.) purchased two DR 7500 systems for its Level 1 Trauma Center and one DR 7500 for its outpatient orthopaedic clinic; CENTRE DE SANTÉ ET DE SERVICES SOCIAUX DE LA VALLÉE-DE-L'OR (Quebec, Canada) purchased a DR 7500 system; Vista Health (Waukegan, Ill.) ordered CARESTREAM PACS and two CR 850 and 825 systems; Wilkes Regional Medical Center (North Wilkesboro, N.C.) ordered two DR 7500 systems.


Milford Hospital, a full-service medical center in Connecticut, desired to measurably improve their medication administration process. An initial step was taken through the deployment of Meditech’s Electronic Medication Administration Record software (EMAR), Milford Hospital’s nurse, pharmacy, and IT management teams decided to explore other delivery options, such as medication carts that integrated with mobile computing systems. To achieve this, EnovateIT crafted a custom solution comprised of Rubbermaid Medical Solutions medication carts, light-weight mini-PCs, infection control keyboards and mice, and 17” flat panel monitors for easy viewing of data by clinicians.


Siemens Medical Solutions and John D. Archbold Medical Center (Archbold) of Thomasville, Ga., announced an agreement to implement Soarian, a workflow-engineered health information system that supports patient-centered care. Archbold will deploy Soarian’s clinical, financial, scheduling, and health information management applications, as well as the Soarian Portal. The five-hospital, four-nursing-home health system is also extending its contract with Siemens to include Siemens Pharmacy, Med Administration Check, Enterprise Document Management, and the syngo Suite for image management.
