Allscripts said that New Mexico Orthopaedics willl install its TouchWorks Electronic Health Record (EHR) to automate and connect their 46 providers and support staff. New Mexico Orthopaedics is the largest orthopedic practice in the state of New Mexico. The group is comprised of 24 physicians and 22 mid-level providers and physical therapists with a broad range of specialties to include orthopedic and spine surgeons, sports medicine, hand surgeons, total joint surgeons, physiatry, podiatry, physical therapists, occupational therapists, and physician assistants.


Digisonics has announced that Springfield Perinatal Clinic in Springfield, Mo. implemented OB-Net with GYN which provides full web-based access to the entire clinical database and reporting system. Tulsa Perinatal Evaluation Center in Tulsa, Okla. selected the OB-View Image Management and Reporting System; and Delta Diagnostics in West Monroe, La. upgraded their current system to DigiNet Pro for full web-based access to the cardiovascular image management and clinical reporting system.


Clinicians at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles, Calif., are transitioning from their homegrown infobutton search application to Thomson Healthcare’s InfoButton Access, a commercial infobutton system. Cedars-Sinai Medical Center is one of the largest nonprofit academic medical centers in the western U.S., with 848 beds and serving five counties in Southern California. InfoButton Access is an internet or intranet-based and context-aware knowledge search and retrieval technology solution that integrates easily with clinical information systems. Infobuttons facilitate immediate access to evidence-based knowledge within clinicians’ workflow at the point-of-care, and designed to help them quickly find answers to patient care questions. An article in last year’s Journal of the American Medical Informatics Association (JAMIA) reports Boston-based Partners Healthcare found that infobutton technology satisfied clinicians’ information needs about medications and significantly altered patient care decisions nearly 15 percent of the time.


IMPAC Medical Systems said its MOSAIQ Oncology PACS has been implemented at the Mannheim Medical Center Department of Radiation Oncology, in Mannheim, Germany. The Mannheim Medical Center is using IMPAC's oncology-specific PACS to manage and archive data and images from a broad range of treatment planning systems and imaging devices. The MOSAIQ Oncology PACS offers the department the necessary tools and technology to accomplish its objectives of electronically managing large data sets, department wide access to archived data, and achieve full integration with the proven MOSAIQ workflow.


IntraOp Medical Corporation has delivered its Mobetron to the Gunma Prefectural Cancer Center in Japan. Mobetron is a proprietary, mobile, self-shielded device designed to deliver intraoperative electron-beam radiation therapy (IOERT) to cancer patients during their tumor removal surgery. IntraOp has delivered 19 Mobetron units worldwide, including three in Japan. Mobetron is self-shielded and delivers IOERT in the operating room, without patient transportation.


SmartPill’s GI Monitoring System is now being used by Dr. Arun Ohri, a gastroenterologist with Resurrection Medical Center in Chicago. Ohri is the first doctor in the region to use the new technology in a physician practice. The SmartPill GI Monitoring System aids in the diagnosis of gastrointestinal (GI) motility disorders, including those suffering from symptoms of slow gastric emptying, a condition known as gastroparesis. Symptoms of gastroparesis include heartburn, nausea, vomiting of undigested food, abdominal bloating, erratic blood glucose levels and spasms of the stomach wall.


Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia is the latest of 125 hospitals to embrace Veriphy, Vocada’s solution for critical test result management (CTRM). CTRM is a technology-based pathway to automate and manage the communication of critical and urgent patient findings. Veriphy replaces manual systems, which typically are inefficient, inconsistent, and error-prone, and it simultaneously enhances patient safety, improves patient outcomes, and boosts staff productivity.
