Eaton releases new version of power protection monitoring software
Eaton Corp. released version 4.0 of its Powerware PowerVision Power Management software that meets the diverse needs of both IT system administrators and facility engineers.

Offered in two package options - network edition and facility edition - the software ultimately allows network administrators and facility professionals to proactively monitor the health and performance of critical power protection infrastructure locally or across an enterprise from any location.

The network edition allows IT professionals to monitor all networked uninterruptible power systems (UPS) in a distributed power environment over their existing local area network (LAN), and it integrates seamlessly with many network management systems (NMS), Eaton said. The technology allows network administrators to receive immediate notification of alarm conditions, while easily managing UPS installation dates, preventative maintenance and battery replacement dates.

Eaton's PowerVision Facility Edition allows systems and facility engineers to centrally manage multiple UPSs in addition to other critical power protection infrastructure components. The software integrates with building management systems (BMS), distributed control systems (DCS) or SCADA systems. The program also features integrated data analysis tools to assist facility managers in making proactive management decisions, such as scheduling preventive maintenance, and planning for system upgrades and capacity expansion, Eaton said.
