IBM displays new bundled grid archive solution
IBM Healthcare & Life Sciences displayed at HIMSS06 last week in San Diego its Grid Medical Archive Solution Entry Edition (GMAS EE), a new bundled solution that gives clients a simple, fast, resilient and open framework to begin building a platform for delivering truly collaborative medicine. The grid is delivered with pre-configured nodes, in single-priced bundles of integrated hardware, software and services, needing minimal onsite integration. It utilizes Bycast StorageGRID Software and integrates IBM DS4100 TotalStorage, LTO and eServer xSeries servers. This solution helps hospitals and imaging centers establish an enterprise-wide storage system to address the massive growth of radiology, cardiology imaging and other fixed content data. The company has noted a shift over the past several years away from individual department storage to enterprise scalability. With data growing exponentially, aggregating storage allows departments to share costs and pay for incremental grid storage. IBM has also developed an entire consulting practice that helps create sharing agreements.
