McKesson, Toshiba ink deal aimed at small hospitals and imaging centers
McKesson announced yesterday that it has signed a distribution agreement with Toshiba America Medical Systems Inc. that will see Toshiba to offer McKesson's Horizon Medical Imaging PACS with its diagnostic imaging devices, including the Aquilion line of CT scanners. The agreement is aimed at imaging centers and hospitals under 200 beds, the companies said.

McKesson's has seen success with its Horizon Medical Imaging of late, including category leader position for the community clinical solutions and community PACS category in within KLAS’ 2006 Mid-Year Report Card. The system is modality independent and able to integrate images from multiple modalities with clinical patient data for more comprehensive electronic health records (EHRs).

Toshiba's CT business has installed more than 17,000 CT systems in hospitals, imaging centers and medical group practices worldwide. Toshiba's Aquilion also has  done well in KLAS ranking, for instance the 64-slice CT perception report, released in October 2005, ranked the system at the top in overall vendor ratings, the company said.
