Merge eMed launches 3D fetal imaging software
Merge eMed this week announced the launch of Baby Explorer, a 3D fetal imaging software application, the company said.

Created by Cedara Software (also a Merge Healthcare company), Baby Explorer is designed as a cost-effective ultrasound plug-in application for generating advanced 3D fetal images.  The tool can run on a standard PC and allows technologists to easily generate 3D fetal images from 2D clips. Baby Explorer provides volume rendering that enables the anatomical features of the baby to be viewed, supports multiple image types, and exports images that can be printed on standard printers or saved on CD-ROMs.

"The launch of Baby Explorer on our eCommerce website is the first of many initiatives that leverage the product innovation depth, quality and speed of Cedara Software with our Merge eMed eCommerce and Direct Sales channels," said Richard Linden, Merge Healthcare President and CEO, in a release.  "We will continue to leverage this medical imaging innovation engine to expand our reach into other healthcare clinical specialties, and to extend the breadth and depth of clinical imaging capabilities within those specialties."

Merge eMed says it has expanded its eCommerce website to accommodate Baby Explorer and other future clinical applications, in addition to its eFilm.
