New open-access medical imaging database available
A new open-access medical image database has been unveiled that is free and open to the public. Called MedPix, the website is based on technology developed by a professor at Uniformed Services University, in Bethesda, Md., a federal medical school. The archive contains peer-reviewed and pathologically proven cases within radiology, pathology, endoscopy, and ophthalmology. Its library holds more than 29,000 medical images from more than 6,700 cases. Each image is captioned and catalogued, and can be downloaded for local teaching. MedPix is hosted by the Department of Radiology and Radiological Sciences, at USUHS, and is also licensed to the American College of Radiology.
