Philips merges barcode technology and dictation technology
Philips Dictation Systems is augmenting its Digital Pocket Memo product line.

The company is launching a click-on barcode scanner -- Barcode Module 9284 -- which can be mounted onto the Digital Pocket Memo models 9400i, 9350 and 9250. The device links dictation recordings to patient records in systems where barcode technology is present.

Reading barcodes from as far away as 20 inches, the Barcode Module 9284 is equipped with a 32-megabyte memory and allows up to eight hours of recording time. It also can upload and store patient information on the Digital Pocket Memo for review of selection via the built-in display.
