Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates joined a handful of wealthy donors, July 17, saying he will pledge more than $30 million over three years to advance research aimed at early Alzheimer’s detection.
In a blog post on Gate’s website, he cited his father’s diagnosis with the disease as motivation behind Tuesday’s launch of the Diagnostics Accelerator program.
This venture follows his November 2017 announcement, when he pledged nearly $100 million to projects focused on researching dementia and Alzheimer’s disease.
“Imagine a world where diagnosing Alzheimer’s disease is as simple as getting your blood tested during your annual physical,” Gates wrote in the post. “Research suggests that future isn’t that far off, and Diagnostics Accelerator moves us one step closer.”
