New president takes over at ISMRM

Lawrence L. Wald, PhD, has officially begun his term as the new president of the International Society for Magnetic Resonance in Medicine (ISMRM).

Wald, professor of radiology at the A.A. Martinos Center, MGH, Charleston, Mass., was presented the presidential gavel at the conclusion of ISMRM’s Annual Meeting in Montréal, Canada on May 15. Wald succeeds Pia C. Maly Sundgren, MD, PhD.

"After the stimulating, whirlwind of the annual meeting in Montréal, it's a pleasure to return home and reflect a bit on that experience and the year ahead,” Wald said in an ISMRM news release. “It is with honor and some trepidation that I begin my term serving as president of this Society and, together with you, continue the push to advance medicine through improved imaging.”

The ISMRM Board of Trustees also announced Peter Jezzard, PhD, as the new editor of its Magnetic Resonance in Medicine journal. Effective January 1, 2020, Jezzard will take the reins from Matt Bernstein, PhD, who served in the position since February 1, 2011.

“The ISMRM Board of Trustees is very pleased that Peter has accepted the position of Editor-in-Chief of Magnetic Resonance in Medicine and looks forward to his leadership in the coming years,” according to ISMRM.
