The Connecticut Hospital Association says it has launched the nation’s first statewide data repository for tracking imaging-related radiation dosage. The repository has the potential to help benchmark appropriate doses from coast to coast, according to an article published June 27 in the American Hospital Association’s Hospitals & Health Networks.
The outlet reports that the CHA selected Bayer’s Radimetrics software to gather dosage data for analyzing later this summer. So far, about half of CHA’s 27 member hospitals have installed it. Data is already in from 150,000 or so images.
Jason Launders of the ECRI Institute calls the undertaking “a data-mining research project of gigantic proportions.”
