A recent survey found that healthcare patients were comfortable sharing their private data for research purposes, but their comfort level dropped when their data was being used for marketing efforts.

Results were based on a survery that questioned more than 3,000 people using different scenarios in which their data might be used, as well as their opinions on the appropriateness of using data that was not obtained with consent.
