Andrew Rosenkrantz named new editor of American Journal of Roentgenology

The American Roentgen Ray Society has named Andrew B. Rosenkrantz, MD, as the next editor-in-chief of the American Journal of Roentgenology, the organization announced Tuesday morning.

Rosenkrantz, a professor of radiology at NYU Langone, will replace longtime AJR Editor-in-Chief Thomas H. Berquist, MD, when he retires in July. The appointment will mark Rosenkrantz as the 13th editorial leader of the 113-year-old journal.

“I am thrilled for the opportunity to serve AJR as its next editor-in-chief,” Rosenkrantz said in a statement. “The American Journal of Roentgenology is the world's longest continuously operating radiology journal and has established itself as the leading journal for clinically relevant articles impacting radiologists' daily practice."

In addition to his duties at NYU, Rosenkrantz has also served as assistant editor for Genitourinary Imaging at AJR since 2014, under Berquist. He was also recently described as “one of the most widely published researchers in academic radiology” by Radiology Business Journal. Since his first article was published in AJR in 2010, Rosenkrantz has gone on to author and co-author 60 articles for the academic journal. In total, he has been a part of more than 350 peer-reviewed publications.

“We are delighted to have chosen Andrew Rosenkrantz as the new editor-in-chief for the American Journal of Roentgenology,” ARRS Publications Committee Chair Deborah Baumgarten, MD, said in the statement. “It became clear during the selection process that Dr. Rosenkrantz is visionary, dedicated, proactive and really quite brilliant."

Rosenkrantz is also a professor of radiology and urology, director of prostate imaging, director of health policy, and section chief of abdominal imaging in the Department of Radiology at NYU’s Grossman School of Medicine.
