Cerner wins purchasing agreement and enterprise-wide IT installation
Healthcare cooperative VHA Inc. inked a three-year purchasing agreement with Cerner Corp. for the company's PharmNet, RadNet and PathNet information systems.
In related news, Cerner announced a hospital-wide IT (information technology) installation at East Jefferson General Hospital in Louisiana.
At the core of the IT package is Cerner's computerized physician order entry (CPOE) system that synchronizes the workflow of physicians, nurses and pharmacists around the complex process of medication management.
East Jefferson General also will implement Cerner's SurgiNet to provide clinical data to those caring for patients before, during and after surgery; Cerner's PharmNet to streamline the hospital's pharmacy department; FirstNet for automation of emergency room registration, triage, tracking, orders, documentation and medical records; PowerInsight to merge East Jefferson General's clinical, financial, operational and scientific content into a single data warehouse; and finally, Cerner's CVNet to streamline functions across the continuum of cardiac care.
