Four PACS vendors chosen for $10 billion United Kingdom initiative
The United Kingdom's National Health Service (NHS) has named four vendors to install their respective PACS over the next three years as part of the NHS' $10 billion Care Record Service clinical information systems initiative.

The NHS selected PACS from GE Healthcare, Phillips Medical Systems, Eastman Kodak Co. and British firm ComMedica. The contracts are for specific regions; PACS vendors will work with the regional local service providers.

GE Healthcare is the PACS vendor for three regions. The company will work with local service provider Fujitsu Services in the Southern region and teams with Accenture in the East and East Midlands, and North East regions.

Phillips will partner with British Telecommunications in the London Region, while Kodak and ComMedica will collaborate with Computer Systems Corp. in the North West and West Midlands region.
