Intelerad’s executive announcement, new radiologic technologist trustees, and more radiology workforce moves

Intelerad Medical Systems announced Thursday that it has appointed Mikael Anden as executive vice president of hospital and enterprise imaging business development.

In his new role, Anden will work to expand Intelerad’s imaging footprint. He’ll join the Montreal, Quebec, company later this fall and will report directly to President and CEO Paul Lepage.

“These are exciting times in enterprise imaging, “ Anden said in the announcement. “Providers are consolidating and seeking new ways to provide high quality care in increasingly complex environments and with limited funds. Many of the larger legacy vendors are struggling with that reality and there is a void to fill; that’s where Intelerad can really differentiate itself on the market,” he added.

Brigham Health appoints new leadership

Brigham and Women’s Physician Organization has named Giles Boland, MD, its new president, effective Sept. 1. He succeeds Allen Smith, MD, who announced in May that he would step down as leader of the group after 13 years.

Currently, Boland is the Philip H. Cook Professor of Radiology at Harvard Medical School and has been chair of the department of radiology since August 2016.

“I’m honored by the opportunity to serve as president of the Brigham and Women’s Physician Organization,” Boland said in an Aug. 5 statement. “I look forward to working with my colleagues at Brigham Health and across the Mass General Brigham system to continue to build on the successful foundation of the BWPO.”

The American Registry of Radiologic Technologists’ Board of Trustees announced on Aug. 6 a host of new appointments that began late last month. ARRT is a top accreditation organization for medical imaging professionals.

Former radiologist with Radiology Associates of Fox Valley in Wisconsin, Paul A. Larson, MD, will slide in as board vice president.

ARRT has slated Travis Prowant, MSHS, as secretary/treasurer of the board. He brings his experience as a radiologist assistant at Virginia Commonwealth University Health System to the new position.

Retired radiation oncologist, Albert Blumberg, MD, will relinquish his spot on the board to Candice Johnstone, MD, MPH, medical director of radiation oncology at Elmore Kraemer Cancer Center, St. Joseph’s Hospital, in West Bend, Wisconsin.
