MedPACS announces PACS install for Vista
PACS and teleradiology provider MedPACS Displays Inc. will roll out its MedPACS Vista system at Medical Diagnostic Imaging (MDI), a physician-owned free standing imaging center in Greenfield, Wis.

According to MedPACS, Vista is an application service provider (ASP) model: all hardware and software, as well as maintenance and upgrades, are provided by the company.

The system installed at MDI provides 1 terabyte of archive storage growth per year and is designed to manage up to 25,000 studies per year. An unlimited number of viewers (VistaDisplays) are included for radiologists and referring physicians that will read within the center and remotely. All data are encrypted and a digital tape back-up system provides disaster recovery.

In addition, MedPACS said MDI purchased the MedPACS HL7 module that receives HL7 reports from their RIS for storage in the archive and a WinFILM CD ROM writer to produce image CD's for patients.
