The University of Queensland in Australia has opened its $8.5 million biomedical imaging center designed to tackle key questions related to treatment and prevention of diseases, according to the university.
Queensland’s Center for Advanced Imaging launched the Australian Research Council (ARC) Training Center for Innovation in Biomedical Imaging Technology (CIBIT) will train more than 20 scientists to create new biomedical imaging techniques and probes.
“Now that we have a critical mass of researchers and equipment, we are at the forefront of a field that is advancing swiftly—and it’s essential that we seize this opportunity to pass knowledge on to the next generation of leading scientists,” said Queensland vice-chancellor and president Peter Høj, in the release.
The Australian Government helped establish the center with $4.7 million in ARC funding and an additional $3.8 from industry partner contributions.
