Santa Fe Imaging’s new MRI improves patient experience

Santa Fe Imaging’s new $2.2 million 3 Tesla MRI is the first in the New Mexico city and is already improving care for patients and providers, the Santa Fe New Mexican reported.

“You can’t really have a higher-quality MRI than what this is,” Kevin Lee, a radiologist at Santa Fe Imaging said in the report. “It just improves your confidence in whatever diagnosis you’re giving.”

The new machine also has a larger tube, making it a better experience for claustrophobic or larger patients, Lee said.

And patients no longer must make the hour drive to Albuquerque to access an MRI with similar capabilities.

A prostate scan, which once required an invasive rectal rod now can be done with a simple scan.

“Better experience overall for the patient and better diagnosing,” Lee said.
