ASRT names governance chief; GE Healthcare hires new CEO and more radiology executive news

Artificial intelligence and advanced visualization specialist TeraRecon has appointed Dan McSweeney as its new president, the organization announced June 24.

McSweeney brings 20-plus years of healthcare experience to his new role, including numerous executive positions during his 18-year run with GE Capital and GE Healthcare. He’ll oversee the Durham, North Carolina, firm’s healthcare strategy.

"TeraRecon is known for its strong reputation as the leader in advanced visualization and AI innovation in healthcare," McSweeney said in a statement. "We are reinvesting the benefits of that leadership into delivering further value for organizations by maintaining excellence in advanced visualization and clinical workflow applications, as well as implementing next-gen, AI-based technologies for superior outcomes for patients and communities."

GE Healthcare’s new executive

Peter Arduini has been named president and CEO of GE Healthcare effective January 3, 2022, the corporate conglomerate announced last week.

The former CEO and president of Integra LifeSciences, a Princeton, New Jersey, medical technology company, will succeed Kieran Murphy who is retiring from GE Healthcare after 13 years.

Arduini serves on multiple boards, including Bristol-Myers Squibb Company, the Advanced Medical Technology Association and the National Italian American Foundation.

“GE Healthcare’s world-class portfolio and leadership in precision health positively impacts the lives of billions of patients worldwide,” Arduini said June 25. “I am thrilled to be rejoining GE and for the opportunity to work with GE Healthcare’s talented team.”

ASRT appoints governance leader

The American Society of Radiologic Technologists has selected its former president to lead public policy efforts, the organization announced Monday.

Melissa Pergola, EdD, will move into the role of executive vice president of governance and public policy for ASRT beginning July 13. Pergola spent five years on the association’s board of directors and the past six years at Siemens Healthineers’ business and resources divisions.

“I’m humbled and excited to take on this role at ASRT,” Pergola remarked in a statement. “I’ve always been passionate about our profession, and public policy advocacy is an important avenue to move the needle on patient safety and other critical issues in health care. I look forward to working with our members across the country and supporting our important profession through legislative and regulatory actions.”
