Kailee Viator, 28, was working as a radiology technician in Beaumont, Texas when she eventually decided to trade imaging for her other passion—tattoos, according to a story published by the Beaumont Enterprise.

“I’m a really empathetic person — I care about people,” Viator said in the story. “In an industry where it’s, ‘Get ’em in, get ’em out,’ I was always taking my time to talk to people and getting in trouble. And then, I’m the first person who knows they have cancer, but I can’t say anything. I mean, I know what I’m looking at on the scan — I do it all day.”

So she left her job as a radiologist, and began learning all there was to know about tattooing—a business her family members practiced, and one in which Viator was raised in.

Viator is happy with her career change and enjoys hearing her client’s stories. She is amazed to see people walking around with her works on their bodies, the Beaumont Enterprise reported.
