Mass General, Emerson jointly form new cardiovascular center
The Massachusetts General Hospital (MGH) in Boston and Emerson Hospital in Concord, Mass., have partnered to develop the MGH-Emerson Hospital Cardiovascular Center, to be based at Emerson’s Center of Specialty Care in Concord.

The Cardiovascular Center will offer patients access to physicians from the MGH Heart Center while continuing to grow the two institutions’ existing collaborations in radiation oncology through the MGH Cancer Center and pediatrics and neonatology through the MassGeneral Hospital for Children, the Lincoln Journal reported.

Initially, the MGH-Emerson Cardiovascular Center will be comprised of three clinics staffed by physicians and nurse practitioners from the MGH Heart Center. Specialists in the areas of electrophysiology, women’s heart health and advanced heart failure will provide consultation and treatment and will work with Emerson’s physicians and existing specialty programs to provide patients the best in cardiovascular care.
The MGH-Emerson Hospital Cardiovascular Center is expected to open in late 2008.
