MITA announces new Industry Director
Washington, D.C. – The Medical Imaging & Technology Alliance (MITA) today announced that Thad Flood has joined the organization as Industry Director. “The rapid advancement of medical imaging and radiation therapy technologies requires ongoing engagement with MITA’s industry partners,” said Gail Rodriguez, executive director of MITA. “Thad’s health information technology expertise, coupled with his background in healthcare regulatory policy, will undoubtedly enhance MITA’s ability to effectively communicate with, and advance the priorities of the medical imaging industry.” Flood said, “It is an honor to be joining an organization that works so collaboratively with its industry partners to ensure that policy and regulatory matters enhance innovation and safeguard patient access to life-saving medical imaging and radiation therapy technologies.” Prior to joining MITA, Flood served as a Project Officer with the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, Office of the National Coordinator for Health Information Technology, where he oversaw state health information exchange grants and encouraged adoption of meaningful use standards among eligible healthcare providers.  He has background and interest in healthcare policy and regulatory affairs. Flood earned a BA in International Political Economy from Fordham University, and a J.D. cum laude from the American University Washington College of Law. Flood will be replacing Richard Eaton, who is retiring after more than two decades with MITA. Eaton’s teams have written important standards in ultrasound, nuclear medicine, information technology, X-Ray and others. During his time with the organization, Eaton has also coordinated large scale research projects, led workshops and meetings, and participated in public and private engagements with regulators to represent the medical imaging device industry. ###
