Executive announcements: eHealth Initiative, NCQDIS, OrthoView
The eHealth Initiative’s board approved the organization’s new leadership for the coming year. Serving as eHI president will be John Tooker, MD, MBA, FACP, executive vice president and chief executive officer of the American College of Physicians. Tooker served in 2006 as president of the eHI Foundation. Jeffrey Kang, MD, MPH, senior vice president and chief medical officer of CIGNA Healthcare, will serve as president of eHI’s Foundation. Other elected officers include eHI Treasurer Robert Marotta, Esq., senior vice president, Emdeon Corporation and eHI Secretary Rachel Block, project director, quality strategies initiative, United Hospital Fund. John Glaser, PhD, vice president and chief information officer, Partners HealthCare System, will transition from his role as eHI’s president to president-emeritus in 2007. In addition, the eHI Board elected George J. Isham, MD, medical director and chief health officer for HealthPartners, as an eHI Board member, serving as liaison to Bridges to Excellence, with which eHI has a shared services agreement. Allan Korn, MD, FACP, senior vice president, clinical affairs, Blue Cross and Blue Shield Association, also will serve in this dual role.


The National Coalition for Quality Diagnostic Imaging Services (NCQDIS) Board of Directors has appointed board member Robert Baumgartner as chairman of NCQDIS. Cherrill Farnsworth, the nonprofit organization’s president for nine years and CEO of HealthHelp, will step down. Baumgartner will continue the coalition’s mission of educating policy makers and the media about issues affecting imaging. Baumgartner is CEO of Center for Diagnostic Imaging, a Minneapolis-based medical imaging company with a network of outpatient centers in eight states.


OrthoView has appointed a new Sales Manager, Glen Thornton. Thornton will focus initially on the North East region of the U.S., and will spearhead the further growth of sales in a potentially huge market. Thornton comes with a wealth of experience in the medical market, having worked for Toshiba Medical Systems as a regional modality manager in both CT and MRI. In addition, he has been Account Manager at Hologic Inc and his last position before joining OrthoView was with R2 Technology.
