Osteoarthritis company installs eRAD web-based PACS
ConforMIS, a company that develops and commercializes personalized, minimally invasive orthopedic devices, has installed eRAD PACS for its proprietary image-to-implant process.

By starting with high density imaging data, the Burlington, Mass.-based ConforMIS creates patient-specific devices designed to achieve precise fit, preserve bone and cartilage, minimizing surgical trauma. As part of the production process, images are acquired, stored and made available to radiologists, consulting physicians and ConforMIS engineers from any web-enabled computer via eRAD’s secure data facilities and web-based software platform, according to the Greenville, S.C.-based company.

The company said ConforMIS will use its web-based PACS with advanced visualization capabilities, such as integrated MPR and 3D. The system also needed to support workflow that involves receiving and viewing DICOM images without the need for VPN’s or dedicated secure networks.
