Surescripts recruits from financial sector for new CEO
Harry Totonis has been named president and CEO of e-prescribing provider Surescripts, effective immediately.

The Alexandria, Va.-based Surescripts owns and operates a national e-prescribing network, connecting and enabling information sharing between U.S. physicians, pharmacies and payors.

As head of adviser services at MasterCard, Totonis expanded MasterCard into decision analytics and information-based products. He was responsible for a global team of business development and sales, products, technology development and customer delivery. With Booz Allen Hamilton, Totonis focused on strategy consulting for global companies across network-intensive sectors including technology, processing, consumer banking, insurance and airlines.

In the course of his 14 years with Booz Allen, he served in several executive positions, including managing partner of its global banking and insurance practice and as a member of its executive leadership team. Prior to MasterCard, as CEO of Kinexus, Totonis led the private banking network that enabled banks to share information and deliver financial advice to their customers.

Surescripts said that J.P. Little and Rick Ratliff, longtime senior executives and co-CEOs, are planning to stay with the company.
