Hansen Medical and St. Jude Medical have signed an agreement for the commercialization of complementary new products for the treatment of heart rhythm disorders.

Under the terms of the agreement, Hansen's Sensei X CoHesion 3D visualization module will be integrated with nSite Velocity Cardiac Mapping System from St. Paul, Minn.-based St. Jude. According to Mountain View, Calif.-based Hansen, the technology will enable physicians to visualize, locate and robotically control catheters within the heart to diagnose heart rhythm disorders.

The two companies said that the integrated electrophysiology product will be marketed and sold in the U.S. and in Europe.
