Abaxis, a manufacturer of point-of-care blood chemistry analysis systems, has launched the Kidney Check Panel specifically designed for imaging and radiology centers.

The new panel is to be used in conjunction with the Piccolo xpress point-of-care analyzer to determine the level of renal insufficiency prior to injecting contrast agents for MRI procedures, according to Abaxis.

The Union City, Calif.-based manufacturer released the Kidney Check Panel as a CLIA waiver, resulting from prior U.S. FDA clearance on two analytes contained in the panel, Creatinine and Urea Nitrogen.
