A U.S. private equity firm, Gores Group, has expressed interested in acquiring Agfa-Gevaert’s healthcare division, which has also attracted the interest of Siemens, according to the Financial Times.

Agfa-Gevaert’s healthcare division realized 2007 net sales of $2.2 billion (€1.4 billion) and an operating result of $167 million (€106 million) before restructuring expenses for a margin of 4.8 percent.

If successful in acquiring the healthcare division, the private equity firm, the Gores Group, is likely to leave management of the operations in place, according to the published report.

According to the Financial Times, the potential bid from Gores faces opposition by organized labor, and restructuring would result in some job losses in the short term.
