Barco this week released two next-generation medical grade projection systems, DICOM Theater Lite and DICOM Theater Pro, for use in medical review and conferencing environments. Both are designed for PACS viewing, but also display other sources, such as endoscopy and ultrasound, according to the Kortrijk, Belgium-based company.

Barco's DICOM Theater Lite combines high brightness and a native SXGA+ resolution (1400x1050) in a user-friendly, portable design. The system delivers projections high contrast (2000:1), comfortable light output (2000 Ansi Lumen) and optimum crispness.

DICOM Theater Pro is Barco's new top-of-the-line medical projection system that bundles a powerful MGP 15 projector and MEDICAL Pro QA software. The system can also be combined with one or more flat panel displays to provide a complete system, Barco said. Barco touts the projector's integrated smart dual lamp design and advanced high-resolution Poly-Si LCD technology that guarantee brightness (4500 Ansi Lumen) and sharp details. In addition, DICOM Theater Pro integrates Barco's I-Guard sensor technology for ensured DICOM conformance to the projected images.

Both projections systems are equipped with Barco's BarcoMed display controller for seamless connectivity to PACS workstations.
