BioLucent spinoff forms new company
Cianna Medical has officially broken away from BioLucent to form a separate company and exclusively focus on its SAVI breast brachytherapy technology.
The majority of BioLucent's leadership team will remain at Cianna Medical.
The creation of Cianna coincides with the completion of Hologic’s acquisition of BioLucent and its MammoPad business.
According to the Aliso Viejo, Calif.-based Cianna, SAVI offers women who have had lumpectomy surgery a five-day course of treatment. The multi-catheter, expandable SAVI applicator provides a targeted, contoured dose of radiation that treats tissue surrounding the lumpectomy cavity from the inside out.
