BRIT Systems integrating Guardian compression technology into PACS, teleradiology
Dallas-based BRIT Systems Inc. has signed an agreement to integrate Guardian Technologies International Inc.'s DEVision JPEG2000 compression capabilities with its PACS and teleradiology systems.

Calling the contract a "milestone," Guardian said it is the first contract for DEVision since Guardian acquired the technology in December 2003.

"This first contract marks the start of our transition from the research and development phase to the marketing phase for the DEVision suite," said Michael Trudnak, Guardian CEO.

Guardian said it has spent the past months developing the technology into the DEVision medical imaging suite with components for diagnostic and clinical compression, deep archiving, web-based image distribution and PACS image viewing for PACS and teleradiology communication.

"Study volumes are growing exponentially, as are the number of images per study combined with demands for increased image resolution," said Richard Borrelli, Guardian VP of business development. "This growth is now placing greater demands on distribution and archiving requirements. DEVision helps our customers maximize archive capacity, network bandwidth and PACS performance, providing a superior systems solution."
