California hospital joins breast cancer screening study
Community Hospital of the Monterey Peninsula’s Breast Care Center in Monterey, Calif., has become the first provider in California to participate in the SOMO-INSIGHT clinical study.

Community Hospital is recruiting participants for the U.S. clinical study designed to evaluate whether digital mammography in combination with the somo•v Automated Breast Ultrasound System (ABUS) from U-Systems is more sensitive to detecting breast lesions when compared to mammography alone in women with dense breasts.

The multicenter study intends to recruit more than 20,000 women.

Sunnyvale, Calif.-based U-Systems said its somo•v ABUS is currently cleared under FDA 510(k).
