Canada Health selects GE for PACS, other imaging services
Canada Health Infoway has selected GE Healthcare Canada through a preferred solution agreement for the company's Centricity PACS and diagnostic imaging repository (DI-r).

Infoway said that a key element of the Canada-wide agreement is preferential pricing for jurisdictions that implement a shared service where several hospitals agree to use a common PACS and DI-r infrastructure. GE has adhered to pan-Canadian standards, applicable privacy and security requirements, which are covered in the agreement.

Infoway's preferred solution agreements require that participating vendors, like GE, have an understanding of the pan-Canadian EHR and the need to adopt established standards to ensure interoperability.

At the end of fiscal 2007-2008, Infoway said it invested $316 million in 21 diagnostic imaging projects, currently completed or still in progress, across eight provinces and one territory as part of 254 EHR projects—representing $1.46 billion in investments since Infoway's inception.
