E-Z-EM sees rise in sales
E-Z-EM provided results for its Q3 fiscal 2007 (ended March 3, 2007). Net sales from continuing operations were $33.6 million, up 4.6 percent over net sales from continuing operations of $32.1 million for the previous year. Growth in CT imaging products contributed to increased sales in the quarter, but was partially offset by lower sales in contract manufacturing.

Gross profit for the Q3 2007 was $14.2 million, an 11.8 percent increase from $12.7 million for the year-ago quarter. Gross profit as a percentage of sales improved to 42.3 percent for the current quarter from 39.6 percent for Q3 2006 due to sales price increases and favorable changes in product mix.

For the nine months ended March 3, 2007, E-Z-EM net sales from continuing operations were $101.2 million, compared with net sales from continuing operations of $100.3 million for the nine months ended March 4, 2006. Gross profit was $44.1 million for the first nine months of fiscal 2007 versus $43.5 million for the comparable prior-year period, and as a percentage of sales was 43.5 percent compared with 43.4 percent for the prior-year period.
